Yoga is a complete system of movement, breathing, sound and meditation developed thousands of years ago in India.
There are many styles and types of yoga available these days. I have been trained extensively in the Viniyoga
approach and find that the most adaptable style to work with people of all ages, interests and capabilities.
As described in the 4/23/2001 edition of Time magazine:
"Viniyoga.......is the most highly customized form of yoga. Viniyoga teachers cater stretching positions to
individual student needs and abilities. Function is focused upon over form, with an emphasis on integrating the
flow of movement of the breath with the movement of the spine".
The benefits of yoga practice include more core strength, flexibility, increased mental
concentration and clarity, in addition to building the immune system and balancing the emotions. Yoga movements
and breath mastery release tension and stress and work at deep levels to assist you to enjoy a life full of health and well-being.
Prenatal yoga is designed with the best interests of Mom and baby, helping not only to ease some of the
discomforts that might arise during pregnancy (such as back pain, sciatica, or fatigue), but also to assist
the Mom to get in touch with her breath - a vital link to having a more comfortable birthing experience.
Private yoga therapy sessions utilize the time honored ancient traditions of yoga with more recent
advances in mind/body integration and somatic psychology. Each session is individually designed for your
needs. Whether you're recovering from an injury, have chronic pain, wanting more strength and concentration
for sport activities, or for those seeking physical, emotional, or spiritual growth. Anyone looking for new
ways to cope with stress and the challenges of their life can benefit from the practice of yoga. As you grow
in your practice, new programs will be developed. |
